Benevolent Mental Health Services was started with a dream to provide honest, high quality, person-centered care. It is our mission to make certain you do not feel as though you are just another number. We seek to empower our clients utilizing evidence-based and best practice guidelines.
Benevolent Mental Health Services is Nurse Practitioner owned and managed. As the company grows, we will not lose sight of the importance of collaboration, honesty, and continued education with our clients, partners, and community.
MEET KRISTEN
Kristen Cox is a passionate board certified Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner that likes to provide detailed and exceptional care. She has worked with children and adolescents in the hospital, residential treatment facility, and outpatient settings. She has worked with adults in the hospital and outpatient settings. She also has experience working with the corrections population. Kristen earned a bachelor’s degree from The University of Iowa College of Nursing and a master’s degree from Maryville Catherine McAuley School of Nursing.
Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Kristen worked as a Nurse in the hospital. She took care of oncology and general medical/surgical patients. She spent the last three years of her Nursing career working as a Charge Nurse. Her Nursing career achievements included training hundreds of Nurses how to use a new piece of technology. She created a two-hour presentation focused on the safe and proper administration of intravenous chemotherapy. She then presented this lecture to about one hundred Nurses and Charge Nurses, in a total of five appearances. Kristen also trained the CNAs on necessary safety precautions and hygiene of oncology patients.
Kristen developed her passion for psychiatry early in life. She grew up with parents that had significant mental health challenges. Kristen helped to take care of her mother for many years. She is aware of the numerous difficulties experienced by those that have mental health conditions as well as the challenges that their loved ones can face.
Kristen enjoys treating her patients with kindness, compassion, and skill. She places her entire attention on the person(s) she is with. She is attentive, non-judgmental, and easy to talk to. Her approach is to join medication management and therapeutic techniques.
